There is so much that technology can do to enhance and transform the learning experiences of our students. The goal of this learning community is to share technology information and ideas for integrating technology into the curriculum to improve student achievement.
The Long Range Plan aspires to raise the expectations and proficiencies of all educational stakeholders. Students can expect higher performance and deeper engagement by more access to digital tools and resources. They can also expect to be better prepared to thrive in a global workforce. Educators can expect greater access to student information in order to individualize instruction, a transformed role in the educational process and greater collaboration between home, school and community.
The Technology TEKS are divided into four domains: Foundations, Acquisition of Information, Work-Manipulation of Data/Problem Solving and Communication/Publishing. The goal of the TEKS is for students to be technologically literate by the end of the eighth grade.
According to our Texas STaR Chart data, one of our areas of greatest need is professional development. (Please view a Power Point presentation of our STaR Chart data on my instructional technology blog at http://pzitb.blogspot.com/.)
Let's get our discussion started with the following question: Do you feel adequately prepared to integrate technology into instruction? If not, what types of professional development do you feel that you need to be prepared? Also, please feel free to post any technology related questions or comments.
Please click on the discussions tab above to answer the question and to post any comments or concerns.
